This is the final poster design but with some institutional advertising on. I added a small picture of the Digipak to link them either further and wrote 'Debut album out now' to make the image an advert rather than just a poster. I also added the record label logo to make the advert seem more professional.

This is YASMIN'S work on the digipak. Once she had made this the group got together and discussed the different options, what we preferred and what we thought would work best. EVentually we decided on number 3 but with 'and the mystery pacific' in black instead of green. I thought this would be a good idea as i thought the use of more than one bright colour made the digipak look infantry and didn't suit the genre.

These are pictures YASMIN took as she and I filmed part of the video. We then used these photos for the Poster and Digipak.

 I made a small adjustment to my poster by using a clear image of the band rather than an edited one. i did this because after getting some audience feedback 99% people said they preferred the poster with a distorted background but a clear imagine of the band and that it would be more likely to catch their eye in a magazine. The audience also agreed that when the band and background had the same effect the band blended in too much and looked less significant. The convention of a folk genre is not to feature the band/artist that heavily but as they are new i want to sell the band as much as possible in order for the music to be heard.

 This was almost my final poster. I've kept the image the same and added the ship and title, keeping the title yellow to link to the digipack. I left the name of the band relatively small so the main focus was of the band, making the poster more eye catching as there is one big bold object, keeping thr poster simple but effective and not over cluttering as i had done on my previous draft posters.

When i had compiled the poster i had planned, I found i was not happy with the way it looked. For one the font didn't stand out against the background and was hard to read, but also the poster just didn't have the striking image i hoped it would. The cut out of the band looked unnatural against the patterned background, but not in an artistic way, it looked quite amateur. The poster was too dark and wasn't striking enough, so now i've changed my idea and am going for a much simpler, more powerful image. I originally didn't want the band members picture to feature heavily in the poster, and wanted it to focus far more on the art, as is common in the Folk genre, however as they are an unknown band I realized they needed something far more eye catching that sold the band whilst they were still small, then once they were more well known they could move their focus back to the music, and just have art on their poster. We have however stuck to the convention of only using art on the front cover of the digipak. To make the advert more conventional I've stylized the photo of the band, so it is more like having art on the poster. I originally just gave the image a blue tint, but i decided i wanted something far more interesting, and wanted a range of bold colours as can be seen in the Bon Iver poster in my research. So far I've given the image a cartoon-like feel and changed the contrast level so the colours are far bolder. I plan to use this effect on the ship and the band title, so the poster is still linked to the digipak through the font and the drawing of the ship.

 Once i worked out how to cut out the background from the photo of the band i continued arranging the poster to how I wanted it. However I discovered the words in the band name were not clear/bold enough to see against the dark background.

 This is the original photo with the background removed so we could put the image of the band against the patterned background we had chosen to use. However I cannot find a way to have the image as just the band. Even though i have removed the background there is still white space behind them so when I paste the image onto the poster there is a large blank space behind them rather than the patterned background, which ruins the poster's image.

This is my unfinished poster. We used the same pattern we used for the digipack to create the appearance of a sea of thorns. I have both images, original and edited, on the poster to compare which ones blend in better with the background, as neither will work I'm trying to find alternative ways to present the band in the poster. We've gone against by convention by having the poster and the album cover directly relate. From my research i saw that most band's/artist's album covers and advert only indirectly relate, or there's only small elements of the two that relate.

 This is the picture we've decided to use for our poster. We've gone against convention by only having the artists on the poster, and not including any instruments in the image, or just using art as artist such as Laura Marling and Bruce Springsteen have done. However we did decide to have the artists wearing dark/neutral/natural colours, a convention of folk artists.
